Pat and Kate came in town last night, and tonight they came over to hang out and to celebrate Pat’s birthday. Kate made two desserts, including “tie-dye” cupcakes that the kids got to help with. It was really great to see them and to hang out together for the weekend. Happy birthday, Pat!!

Bridget’s Farmer Program
Bridget had her first school program today. It was about a farmer’s life and it was very cute and fun. Here are some pictures of the cutie:
(Heidi is sporting the medal she got today at school for good behavior—congratulations!)

BHS Community Show
Lauren’s band had an amazing and awesome show tonight for the community. Mr. Box explained all the “behind the scenes” secrets and had them go through it piece by piece for a huge audience at the high school. Then they did the whole thing again from start to finish. Everyone was amazed at how great it was. Great job, Lauren!!

We had a pretty fun Halloween this year, with Bridget dressed up as Rainbow Dash and Heidi as a flapper. The special friend is Francis the Frog (from Sunday school). Bridget was the lucky one who got to take him home the week of Halloween. Here are some cute pictures:

Beth’s State Championship
We took the whole family to Chattanooga for a fun weekend that included Beth’s competing in the 2014 State Championship for cross country. She did amazingly! She was the second person on her team to finish and her team took 7th in the state!!! It was all around fun for everyone.

Beth Qualifies for State Cross Country
Beth had an amazing run in the rain today at the state qualifying cross country meet. She finished in the top 10 and her team (BMS) got 2nd place. Wow!!! And it was so great that Monkey Grandma got to come and watch it all. Next stop: Knoxville for the state championship!!

Lauren got to march in the homecoming parade at school today. I didn’t get to see it, but I saw some video of it and I got to see the floats later today at the football game. The band also did another excellent performance at the halftime show.

Beth was one of the top 10 runners for BMS and got to compete in the Championship run today. She did awesome, getting 12th place overall (out of 70 runners) and getting her best time yet. Congratulations, girl!!

Jake, Beth, Gregory, Heidi, Bridget, Diane and I all went to Walden Farm this afternoon (the big girls had other plans). We played, ran around and went on a hay ride. It was a beautiful day, and not crowded at all.

Medal Run: Jake
Jake competed in the cross country medal run this year at Woodland Middle School. It’s the hilliest course they run, and it’s even worse when there are eight different schools all competing, but he had another awesome run with a strong finish. Yay!

It was so cool to go to Wilco again this year, but now with Lauren as a full member of the BHS marching band. BHS was the first high school to do their show (and the other county high schools followed). It was a really fun night all around. At the end they had all the eighth-graders come on the field and perform in a massed band with all of the students from all of the high schools. Very cool.

Heidi and Bridget went to a party tonight and came home looking like this: (!)

Jake and Beth both ran today and it was a lot of fun to watch them. Jake looked a little tired at first and then turned it on about halfway through the race, passing tons of kids and making what I’m sure was his best time yet. It’s good to see him smiling out there.

We decided to bring Heidi and Bridget to a work party of mine, and what a great choice that was, because there were probably 10 other kids all around the same age. Everyone had an awesome time (especially, I’m sure, the older ones we left at home).

Heidi, Bridget and I decided to follow some instructions in the Rock Your Room book and we made special keepsake boxes.

We took the “fam” to watch Lauren play in the band at the BHS football game tonight. (When we went a few weeks ago I was forbidden to take pictures). Lauren was having a lot of fun in the stands and we got to watch the band do its halftime show (they didn’t march at the last home game). Great job, girl!
